Levelling the plain. Increasing revenues by upto 14%

The Agricultural marketing department of the State Govt. of Madhya Pradesh handed the brief to Credible to help in increasing revenues for small holder farmers in the State.

Farmers, especially small holder farmers lack relevant market information. They don’t have the access, skill and the time to process both local and global trends. This affects their ability to get the best prices for their produce and ultimately effects their limited income.

Credible introduced price forecasting models for some of the major crops in the state such as soybean, various pulses and maize. The model demonstrated an increase of upto 14 percent in revenues could be achieved by farmers by acting according to local market trends.

The price forecasts are being delivered using a combination of analog channels such as radio programs and through a specially designed app. Farmers will then be able to use these forecasts to choose the right market and timing for selling their produce.

Strengthening cooperatives by predicting demand and supply

Credible is working with one of India’s most successful poultry cooperatives.

The National Smallholder Poultry Development Trust,(NSPDT) enables women in rural India to start and run successful poultry enterprises.

Our brief was to ensure we increased profits for all the members of the cooperatives. By optimizing at both ends of the poultry supply chain (purchasing as well as sales), we provide NSPDT with a holistic solution for managing their costs and most importantly increasing their income.

Using price forecasts provided by Credible, these women poultry entrepreneurs can now plan their sales strategy (such as how much longer they need to hold the stock) and get the best prices. The forecasts are also used at a cooperative level, where purchasing of inputs (e.g. day old chicks, soymeal and maize) is centralized.

Case Study 3

Remote sensing derived insights at farm level.

Credible has developed a web-based platform that provides crop-related insights at a farm-level using AI. The platform serves a gamut of use-cases for industries such as crop-insurance, agriculture-lending, sustainable production and supply chain management.

The user can now monitor a range of crop health parameters at a farm-level. These insights can be easily aggregated to a village, district or country level.

Events such as heavy rainfall, drought, pest-attack, disease can have a significant impact on the crop health and ultimately the yield. The platform provides an automated anomaly detection by combining multiple data sources (including meteorological) and comparing current crop health with historical records.

Constant cloud cover is a major challenge for the Indian subcontinent as well as South East Asia in general. Credible is at the forefront of creating ensemble algorithms that combine microwave and optical satellite images to provide regular insights despite cloud cover.
